Visit a State Park This Weekend

Visit a State Park This Weekend and Say Hello to an Appalachia CARES AmeriCorps Member!

This weekend is not only Independence Day, but the first Saturday in July also happens to be National Hop a Park Day. So what better time to celebrate the great work that Clinch-Powell's Appalachia CARES AmeriCorps program is doing in our State Parks? Clinch-Powell has been partnering with Tennessee State Parks since 2013. Our Appalachia CARES AmeriCorps members are placed directly with 20-30 state parks per year, with additional programming and support from placements with park headquarters that impact upwards of 60 Tennessee counties. Through service-learning and environmental stewardship opportunities, AmeriCorps members are providing energy efficiency and conservation training, nature and wildlife education, and experiential learning for park visitors, schools and community groups. The park system includes 56 state parks with a combined 1,300 miles of trail, 80 waterfalls, and countless other opportunities for adventure in the great outdoors.

Outdoor activities such as hiking and trail walking are great ways to spend time during the current health crisis we are facing, but before you head to the parks, visit https://tnstateparks.com/about/keeping-visitors-healthy to check hours of operation and learn how to enjoy the parks and stay safe!
